George Orwell (b. 25 June 1903, Motihari, India–d. 21 January 1950, London, England) is the pen name for British author Eric Arthur Blair. Orwell attended Eton College and he joined the Imperial police force taking a job in Burma (modern Myanmar). After returning to England, he settled in London and started writing and became a teacher.
